What is physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy treats pain and functional disorders of the body, and is practised in various fields such as orthopaedics, traumatology, rheumatology and geriatrics.

As specialists in movement, physiotherapists can treat patients of all types and all ages who suffer from pain, stiffness, loss of mobility or strength, and so on as a result of acute or chronic illness, a disability, an accident or surgery.

The aim of treatment is to relieve the patient, to combat their ailments, to prevent the symptoms worsening by building up muscles and working on balance, and to improve their condition through rehabilitation using massages, physical exercises, movement therapies or shock wave therapy.
